| The Mendenhall House is an easily recognized landmark in the Bozeman Historic District. Built by John Mendenhall in 1886, it is a Queen Anne Victorian with typically over-the-top gingerbread ornamentation, including ornate open porches, sunflower flourishes on the front facade and decorative shingle siding. The excess is carried through to the interior, with ten foot ceilings, two
grand fireplaces, and massive oak pocket doors and huge windows, many of which retain their original sand-cast glass panes, providing appropriately Impressionistic images of the hundred year old trees which shade much of the property. Malcolm Story acquired the property in 1946, and painted the house the rose color responsible for the house's most common descriptor, the Pink House. Now extensively renovated and remodeled in Victorian style.
A large yard with a large picnic table offers plenty of space for outside dining and an outdoor red wood hot tub (October-March) and wireless high speed internet. Inside a formal dining room and spacious kitchen provide complementary settings for all seasons and occasions. There are five bedrooms and three and a half baths with Air conditioning in all bedrooms. The first floor bedroom has a queen bed and half bath. The second floor has 3 spacious bedrooms, the first bedroom has a queen size bed and porch, the second a full size bed and the third bedroom has a king. In addition there is a queen size sofa sleeper in the sitting area. The third floor has two sleeping areas one with a full size bed, and the other has two twin size beds. The house is set up with high speed wireless internet. In total the Mendenhall House can comfortably sleep up to 12. Carriage House The Carriage House is available in addition the main house. The spacious
1600 square foot 3 story guest house can sleep an ADDITIONAL 8-10 guests comfortably. With
a full kitchen, 3 full bathrooms and 2 generous size
bedrooms. The first bedroom has a queen bed as well as a full
size bed and trundle (easily converted into a queen). The second bedroom
also has a queen size bed and daybed. There is additional sleeping in
the spacious living room as there is a queen size pull out bed with a privacy
curtain and an additional twin bed behind a privacy wall. The Carriage
House has a separate hot tub (October-March). Reserve the Mendenhall House plus Carriage House for your large group. Accommodates up to 22! |
